How the poster got out

Someone on the IMDB board, in response to my hi-res images, stated that they know the vendor selling the "stolen" image for the movie and has already been contacted by Paramount.

The name of the person who is selling the one sheet pictured by our fellow poster here on IMDB is Luanna Jo Brown. I happen to know this woman. She has a big booth at the Frank and Son's show and sells movie posters and bootleg movies. She lives in Victorville, CA and Paramount has already been contacted regarding this breach and this stupid lady just spoiled the big announcement of the film's title that Paramount was saving for the Comic Con for all us fans. Plus -- she will be actually trying to SELL THESE STOLEN MOVIE One Sheets from Paramount while she is at the Con. I hope karma is kind to her. Cause Paramount won't be!!!!

Whether this is true or not, it hasn't seemed to phase anyone very much. Arguments against the poster state that the Vendor "Luanna Jo Brown" ruined the game by revealing the super-secret title days before JJ Abrams' big announcement at Comic-Con. As far as I'm concerned, we don't know that this is a true story and so what if the title is Monstrous? We still don't know what the monster is or why it's so pissed.

What a strange world this is.

1. How does some crazy-ass fat lady get access to top-secret Paramount publicity materials?

2. Why isn't her Twinkie-sized ass in the slammer by now?

3. I wonder if "Monstrous" is really the title. Why go to all the bother of concealing/revealing the title if it's so freakin' generic?

4. Any chance "Monstrous" is a red herring or working title? (Probably not, given the high production values of the poster.)

5. If "Monstrous" is really the title, I don't think it would have gotten a really huge reaction even if the name hadn't leaked. There would have been a palpable air of disappointment when they announced the title. "Revenge of the Sith" it ain't.

6. I still can't get over the poster-stealing cow. What a world.

Nice find guys. What's even more interesting is that the original hi-res poster shots posted on unfiction were from user name "luwho1234" and when I PM'd them asking for permission to use the images on cloverfieldnews.com they just responded with "use them anywhere you like, just make sure you mention it came from Franks and Sons". And now the original thread/pictures are gone from those forums. Possible after Paramount got a hold of her.

Tom, that's interesting. I wonder why they made a point to ask that you include it came from F&S? I smell a conspiracy! /kidding.

I'm anticipating something from Paramount at some point. I think it would be fascinating. Then again, why would they? Isn't that the point of an ARG? Figure stuff out? It just so happens the fans are quicker than they imagined :)

This is without a doubt based off of HP Lovecrafts "Dagon." Anyone else take notice to the underwater path this creature has taken?

Good point. However I bet that "Off to Comic-Con" means "Off to Alcatraz"

I bet she is at the mercy of J.J. after that one

Heh, trying to make us think you're Abrams, JJA? ;)

It's a nicely done cleanup, but you can still see the reflections from the plastic it was placed behind, not to mention the colours are off and that font is obviously different when compared to the high-res pics from Frank & Sons.

Tis a shame that lady spoiled it, if true... although I agree that I wonder if there'd have been as much buzz had the announcement gone ahead as planned. At least if it truely had been spoiled, it was one of the least important things that could be spoiled.

Ah well, we should hopefully know the truth by the end of the day, if not the end of the week.

Man that sucks! I worked so hard as a fanboy to get my self excited for this, then this fat bitch has to go and spoil it for everyone!! This was the only reason (besides HEROES) that I was going to Comic-Con this year. Screw that. I hope she rots in jail for the rest of her life. And if she gets out, I'll stone her myself. Anyone want to help???

Another wrinkle, see the Unforum post

According to a shopper, the poster vendor who leaked the "monstrous" poster is back at her booth and charging a hundred smackers for her leaked posters. Why is this person
a) not in jail
b) still in possession of these posters which are property of Paramount?
