Cloverfield Clues Asked to Cheese and Desist

Interesting that Cloverfield Clues received a cease and desist letter from Paramount regarding the call sheet that New York Entertainment posted yesterday.

The letter reads:
Paramount has learned that you are reproducing, displaying and distributing the “Cheese” call sheet on your website ... Paramount hereby demands that you immediately remove the “Cheese” call sheet from your website.
I don't know, but it sounds fake to me. Does that sound like an official letter from a major company, written by some big-wig lawyer?

Here are several examples of cease and desist letters I found very quickly on Google:

http://www.eff.org/IP/Video/MPAA_DVD_cases/?f=20000524_ny_etc...

http://www.chillingeffects.org/fanfic/notice.cgi?NoticeID=7

Note they don't just sound like some dude telling you to "quit it". They sounds professional and are unnecessarily long...the way lawyer written letters are supposed to sound. I think someone's pranking Cloverfield Clues.

I only quoted a small part of the C&D letter. I assure your it is real - I called and talked to the lawyer today. Slashfilm has also received the same letter today, and has a post on thier site about it as well.

Like you, i am skeptical, but also a little bit worried because i read the call sheet. It just seems like a lot of effort to go and not only make a fake call sheet but have someone go around and put a fake cease and desist. Realistically, i guess they could have to go back and reshoot the ending after everyone had found out. Also, they didn't make new york magazine take theres down. I'm not sure if thats a good or bad sign.

Dennis, it's all so strange. I don't get why they'd just hand the guy a call sheet and then ask him to take it down. Doesn't make sense. Sorry I didn't believe it was real, I didn't figure you'd only posted part of it. I'd like to know more of what the lawyer said.

For anyone who has alot of time:

Real or fake Paramount obviously does hold the copyrights to this movie so therefore anyone who really wants information bad enough can go to http://www.copyright.gov/records/ and learn whatever they can that way.
