I've been browsing the myspace pages of the main character and have seen alot of references to beaks/birds I might miss a few but lets get started.It makes sense. What it means, who knows. I did notice, however, that Beth working at Penguin Publishing was rather literal. Instead of working for a "publishing company", she works for a real place. One could spend hours speculating what it means or take it a step further and look for clues at http://us.penguingroup.com - but I think it's a false lead anyway. I did, however, do the obligatory 1-18-08, cloverfield, etc. search at the site and nothing came up.
-First let me point out Rob and Jasons last name "Hawkins" and Jasons myspace display name "Hawk
-If you look at Rob's pictures you see a bird pinata in two of his pictures

-In one of Jamies pictures is a picture of her with a stuffed animal that has a beak

And is it just me, or does the damage done to the statue of liberty in the teaser poster look like it was done by a beak or something? I might just be looking too much into it, but I definitely noticed a pattern. Like I said sorry if that has been discussed before.

Serously I think your thinking too deep because in the poster they show the wake of something movin in the water towards the city I think a bird would fly into the city. The destruction seems to be from the ground and up if it was something that flew you would notic alot more damage to the tops of the buildings.
Very interesting idea. I'm just now getting into all of this. And I'm already overwhelmed.
aj08, I don't think it's a bird, but the instances of birds being mentioned are intriguing.
If you look closely at Lily's profile, it says she works at Penquin, not Penguin. Could be a typo, but still...
In the Penguin Group they have the Call of Cthulhu. And if its an octopus type creature it should have a beak.
